Studio-recorded in Bulgaria off the coasts of the Black Sea, the Sessions features performances by the European Recording Orchestra and Johnum himself on violin and piano. Originally purposed as rescores of popular films (The Theory of Everything, Sol Levante) and video games (Breath of the Wild), the presentation as an EP recontextualizes these tracks as introspective snapshots of Johnum’s one-month stay in the beach city of Varna. Ultimately, the Sessions offers the listener a budding self-portrait of an aspiring composer for screen.
